Pipeline Masters 2012 Day Two

Sunday Day Two of the Pipeline Masters got off to an early start with some big surprises and some not so big. John John Florence was knocked out in an early round to everyone's disbelief by Sebastian Zietz from Kauai. Sebastian collected enough points to secure his Triple Crown win early that morning when Australia's Adam Melling lost to Miguel Pupo in the Eighth heat of the second round. What's not so surprising: Kelly Slater and Joel Parkinson made it through their heats to compete against each other for the World Title.

Memorial Paddle-out for Donald Mo'ke Takayama - November 10, 2012

On this date, hundreds of those who love Donald Takayama paddled out at his favorite Beach Boy hang-out spot in Waikiki to celebrate his life with songs, stories and fellowship. Simultaneously, hundreds more were paddling out in his honor in Oceanside CA, Japan, Italy, and many places along the US East Coast. Donald grew up surfing on the south shore of Oahu, and as a teenager, moved to California for the surfing boom in the 60s to pursue his talent for shaping. He quickly became one of surfing's most accomplished and well-known shapers. More notably, Donald was appreciated for his tremendous spirit of Aloha which left an indelible impression on everyone who knew him. His wife, Diane, and all those who knew him will miss him very much!

Wow the beach was packed this weekend with people from all over the world coming together to watch one of the biggest surf contests in the world!!! Rain or shine sure didn't keep the crowd away from seeing some of the greatest surfers ride waves larger then you could imagine.
